ELECTRIC UMBRELLA TEAM UP WITH MENCAP
Back in January Electric Umbrella was asked by the London Marathon's official 2020 charity MENCAP to create a track that would become Team Mencap's cheer anthem for this incredible event. The result was the massively motivating SIDE BY SIDE, written and recorded in creative collaboration with our members Calum, Ali and Max and our Rickmansworth Group.
The track took it's original inspiration from a Mencap poetry workshop by Claire Sweeney, but went on to have it's own dance choreographed by Mencap Ambassador Andrew Self (of BBC'S The Greatest Dancer fame) and a video featuring over a 100 dancers with learning disabilities. Imagine the thrill when we saw Daniel and Tom featured in the Daily Mail and heard the track on the Royal Family's Instagram, Facebook and Twitter account as The Countess of Wessex ran with Mencap's Tomas in the rain! Remember a single's not JUST for a marathon - it's to remind us EVERY DAY that we believe in a world where we run, work and play SIDE BY SIDE, together - celebrating the richness difference can bring.

We were delighted to recently recognise Paul Gershlick, Partner at VWV Law Firm in Watford, with our Corporate Ambassador Award . Paul first introduced Electric Umbrella to VWV and their wider network after inviting us to perform online at their 2020 PING conference. Since then, a real friendship was struck and Paul, along with his team at VWV Watford, have gone above and beyond to support Electric Umbrella. Whether it’s having us return to perform at future conferences, supporting us with in-office charity events and lunches, or attending our shows, Paul and the VWV Watford team have bought into the Electric Umbrella way. In addition to VWV Watford making Electric Umbrella their office charity of the year for two years running, Paul personally volunteers on a weekly basis at our Big Yellow Choir, where he was presented with his award by our CEO Mel and choir member Ali, earlier this month.
Steve Owen has raised nearly £4,000 of vital funds for Electric Umbrella after he cycled the length of Africa.
Elana and Steve were special guests at a Buckingham Palace garden party, to mark the Coronation.
