FAQs

An interactive music session hosted by our professional musicians, supported by our learning disabled members.  Singing, playing and having fun together.

Just before show time, click on "Join The Session" at the top of this page to access the codes for this week.

Nope, It is entirely free.

  • It takes place on Zoom, so all you need to attend is a device with an internet connection, and ideally a camera and microphone. The bigger the screen, the more fun you will have.
  • If you cannot use Zoom, there is the option to watch the Music Machine live on an unlisted (i.e. private) YouTube link.
  • Both the Zoom link and the YouTube link are accessible via the button on this page.

No. We want to see as many individuals and as many classes as possible.

It’s appropriate for all ages.

Yes.

Electric Umbrella works with people with all kinds of learning disabilities, and all our activities are designed to work for everybody.

The most important thing will be your smile.  There may be some weeks where we ask you to bring or find particular (simple) things.  If so, we will tell you in advance via the Music Machine web page.  If you don’t have the relevant things, it won’t stop you from attending or enjoying the session.

No. Session titles are announced above.

It will help us to make the session more interactive and enjoyable for you and the other participants if you have your camera turned on, but if that is not possible, it will not stop you enjoying the session.

No you don’t.  All you need to do is to click on "Join The Session" and answer a couple of simple questions to click through to the codes you need for the week.

All our staff and musicians are DBS checked, and we always have at least one staff member on the session who is tasked with monitoring what is happening on screen, including on the chat.

Access codes change every week and are only available via our web page. Waiting room opens 30 minutes before the show.

What people are saying about Electric Umbrella's Education programmes:

"We loved it all. The children were thrilled to experience live music and important conversations were opened up. The messages about inclusivity that your team delivered were so important."

"It was very heartwarming and provided an amazing message. My class have been singing the songs and have formed their own band this week since seeing the performance!"

"The staff were moved to tears at one point and then laughing at other times. The children of all ages were spellbound...We have a wide range of children with different needs at our school and they were all engaged. The staff loved how all the performers interacted and the children enjoyed being part of such a fun session."

"The children were wary (and quiet) at first but could soon see that learning disabilities are nothing to be frightened of. They were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed every moment!"

"[The Session] got them talking. There was some feedback about visitors that were 'weird' and obviously we spoke at length with the children who used that language to shift and evolve their thinking/fears.  The VITAL aspect of your work with us was that this conversation happened and the issue and feeling of our children were raised and highlighted (so that they could be targeted in a focused way)."

"It opened up important conversations and allowed the children to receive important messages about celebrating individuality."

"Your workshop was amazing, truly inspirational and engaged over 800 children. Thank you!"

"I...cannot praise your team enough. It was a phenomenal experience enjoyed by the whole school - Nursery through to Year 6 - and the positive message was inspiring. We definitely want to do the same sort of thing next year and I will be directing my School Council towards promoting your charity as one of our fundraisers. In the words of the children, it was awesome!"
