Electric Umbrella’s New Christmas Single “Kindness Isn’t Just For Christmas is available now!

Our brand new Christmas single “Kindness Isn’t Just For Christmas” is out now!

Written and performed by our amazing rockstar members alongside professional musicians and songwriters, the single was co-produced by Andy Wright, known for producing Simply Red, S Club, Luciano Pavarotti and Jeff Beck, among many others.

Schools around the country were also invited to join our choir of backing vocalists in our Great Festive Singalong, an interactive online workshop, and use the specially created free digital teaching resources to accompany the song. 

The resources are still available and it’s not too late for more schools to learn the song, explore acts of kindness and the effect they have on others, and perform our song in their own Christmas shows! More information is available HERE. 

Electric Umbrella’s Tom Billington, who co-wrote and produced the song, said:

“We can’t wait for everyone to hear our new Christmas single. It's gorgeous!! It features not only hundreds of learning disabled adults but thousands of school children from all over the country… all coming together to do something amazing. We hope this song will be a conversation starter in classrooms and beyond - encouraging people to think about how being kind, sharing joy and helping others be “what they need to be” is something we need to think about all year round.”

Two of the schools taking part, Divine Saviour primary school and Breakspeare special school, in Abbots Langley, Herts, came together to perform the song, lead by Electric Umbrella members. Helen Wilson, Head Teacher of Divine Saviour said:

“We’ve loved learning the Electric Umbrella song with Breakspeare… Electric Umbrella have been to our school a few times now… It’s just been revolutionary…. our children are not afraid to speak to people who might not look exactly as they do… it’s really important that our school feels welcoming to anybody who comes through the doors… The link with Breakspeare has been amazing for both of us, and that’s what’s really important. It’s been really positive for both schools and for all of the children involved.”

“Kindness Isn’t Just For Christmas” is our third festive release following “Christmas As A Punk” and “The Best Christmas In Lockdown”, which reached the upper reaches of the iTunes chart in 2020.

The single is written and produced by Tom Billington & Electric Umbrella, co-produced by Andy Wright and mixed by Gavin Goldberg and Andy Wright. It will be available to download on all the usual streaming services, along with a music video on YouTube and other outlets.
