FAQs

What is it and how does it work?

  • An interactive music session hosted by our professional musicians, supported by our learning disabled members.  Singing, playing and having fun together.

How do we access it?

  • Just before show time, click on "Join The Session" at the top of this page to access the codes for this week.

Does it cost money?

  • Nope, It is entirely free.

Are there any technical things we need to be aware of?

  • It takes place on Zoom, so all you need to attend is a device with an internet connection, and ideally a camera and microphone.  The bigger the screen, the more fun you will have.
  • If you cannot use Zoom, there is the option to watch the Music Machine live on an unlisted (i.e. private) YouTube link.
  • Both the Zoom link and the YouTube link are accessible via the button on this page.

Is there any limit to numbers?

  • No.  We want to see as many individuals and as many classes as possible.

What age is it appropriate for?

  • It’s appropriate for all ages.

Can people take part from home as well as from school?

  • Yes.

Will it cater for all abilities?

  • Electric Umbrella works with people with all kinds of learning disabilities, and all our activities are designed to work for everybody.

What do we need to bring?

  • The most important thing will be your smile.  There may be some weeks where we ask you to bring or find particular (simple) things.  If so, we will tell you in advance via the Music Machine web page.  If you don’t have the relevant things, it won’t stop you attending or enjoying the session.

Do we need to prep for the session?

  • No. Session titles are announced above.

Do we need to be on screen?

  • It will help us to make the session more interactive and enjoyable for you and the other participants if you have your camera turned on, but if that is not possible, it will not stop you enjoying the session.

Do we need to let you know we are coming each week?

  • No you don’t.  All you need to do is to click on "Join The Session" and answer a couple of simple questions to click through to the codes you need for the week.

What measures do you have in place to ensure that this is a safe and secure online environment?

  • All our staff and musicians are DBS checked, and we always have at least one staff member on the session who is tasked with monitoring what is happening on screen, including on the chat.
  • Access codes change every week and are only available via our web page.
  • We will not use video or still pictures in subsequent publicity material unless we have specific consent from the individuals and/or schools portrayed.
