Welcome to Electric Umbrella's education programme

Amazing live music experiences delivered in school - and our brand new education pack!

Welcome to our ground-breaking education programme developed for mainstream primary schools across the UK.

There are two key parts to our offering: amazing in-school live experiences and our brilliant digital toolkit which can be licensed by any school - anywhere!

We're incredibly experienced at what we do. Indeed, over the last year alone we've worked with over 40,000 children and teachers at dozens of schools!

Given EDI is a complex topic, the Electric Umbrella Express programme has been designed to provide teachers with resources and support to enable meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for students.

What we offer to primary schools

In-school experiences

We offer amazing LIVE experiences delivered in schools within 30 miles of Hertfordshire.

Our team of professional musicians and Electric Umbrella Crew Day members deliver extraordinary sessions which challenge children and staff to think differently about learning disabled people.

Every session has a specific theme, but whichever your school chooses, you can be sure it will encourage the idea of celebrating diversity. At Electric Umbrella we always say, 'there's no such thing as normal.'

Songs, fun, and games are guaranteed for everyone who takes part, ensuring that sessions will leave a lasting memory on everyone who takes part.

Our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) programme featuring a series of seven off-the-shelf lessons designed for primary school aged children.

The content for
Electric Umbrella Express has been co-created by Electric Umbrella members alongside children and teachers at Sarratt Primary School.

As well as individual plans, each lesson comes with a new song that has been written by Electric Umbrella members with pro-musicians to inspire discussion about each theme.

The resources are matched to reflect National Curriculum requirements with learning outcomes and learning intentions referenced throughout the pack to to help teachers plan effectively.

What people are saying about Electric Umbrella Express LIVE!

"We loved it all. The children were thrilled to experience live music and important conversations were opened up. The messages about inclusivity that your team delivered were so important."

"It was very heartwarming and provided an amazing message. My class have been singing the songs and have formed their own band this week since seeing the performance!"

"The staff were moved to tears at one point and then laughing at other times. The children of all ages were spellbound...We have a wide range of children with different needs at our school and they were all engaged. The staff loved how all the performers interacted and the children enjoyed being part of such a fun session."

"The children were wary (and quiet) at first but could soon see that learning disabilities are nothing to be frightened of. They were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed every moment!"

"[The Session] got them talking.  There was some feedback about visitors that were 'weird' and obviously we spoke at length with the children who used that language to shift and evolve their thinking/fears.   The VITAL aspect of your work with us was that this conversation happened and the issue and feeling of our children were raised and highlighted (so that they could be targeted in a focused way)."

"It opened up important conversations and allowed the children to receive important messages about celebrating individuality."

"Your workshop was amazing, truly inspirational and engaged over 800  children. Thank you!"

"I...cannot praise your team enough. It was a phenomenal experience enjoyed by the whole school - Nursery through to Year 6 - and the positive message was inspiring. We definitely want to do the same sort of thing next year and I will be directing my School Council towards promoting your charity as one of our fundraisers. In the words of the children, it was awesome!"

"How can I begin to describe the incredible morning we spent with you. Utterly, utterly wonderful on so many levels!

Firstly, the pure joy of having live music and entertainment - such energy, such quality and such a lot of fun! It was brilliant looking around at the faces of our staff and children and seeing their complete joy.

Secondly, what a wonderful way to show how powerful music is! To watch our wonderfully diverse community united together in a way that only music can - no barriers just pure enjoyment. I expected some children to feel a little shy and be hesitant to join in but I needn't have worried! Your energy and enthusiasm was contagious and we couldn't help but be swept up in the tremendous fun of it all.

Furthermore it was wonderful for the children and staff to have our perceptions challenged! For so many of our children to see first hand that no one is normal and that there are no limits to what each, unique one of us can achieve was so powerful.

Some of our children (and adults) have expressed that they often don't know how to talk to someone with a disability. Tom and the performers didn't shy away from this but used it as a fabulous opportunity to educate us all through the wonderful relationships between all the performers and brilliant songs like 'Just Smile'.

We have all been blown away! A truly memory making day. All I have left to say is - when can you come again?"
